In a move to support both social wellbeing and environmental responsibility, the Government has announced two green initiatives effective from 1st July — a €100 water filter voucher for vulnerable families, and an innovative mobile recycling service for people aged 60+ and Blue Badge holders.
💡 Voucher Scheme for Families:
Around 13,000 vulnerable families will receive €100 vouchers by post to purchase water filters that improve tap water quality. The list of eligible shops will be available on www.waw.com.mt. This initiative is funded by the Climate Action Authority.
♻️ Mobile RVMs for Seniors:
A pilot project will see mobile reverse vending machines (RVMs) deployed across 20 localities, where elderly individuals can schedule pickups for drink containers. Bookings can be made by calling 1718 or emailing [email protected] between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, all week.
🗺️ Participating areas include: Marsa, Kalkara, Ħal Għaxaq, Gudja, Mqabba, Qrendi, Birżebbuġa, Senglea, Birgu, Valletta, Cospicua, Paola, Ħamrun, Ħal Lija, Balzan, Santa Luċija, Ħal Luqa, Floriana, Pietà, and Gwardamanġa.
