Prime Minister inaugurates restored bell tower of St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral

Valletta, 4 October 2025 – Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the restoration of the bell tower and bells at the Anglican Pro-Cathedral of St Paul in Valletta, a project supported by around €4.2 million in EU funds.

Dr Abela said the Pro-Cathedral forms part of the capital’s identity and must be protected. The restoration, carried out after years of exposure to natural elements, also received support from the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector, the National Social Development Fund (NDSF), and the HSBC Malta Foundation.

He noted that the works complement Valletta’s wider regeneration efforts, with over €24 million invested in new public spaces, educational facilities, and heritage sites including the Grandmaster’s Palace.

“The Pro-Cathedral restoration is more than a project — it’s a promise to safeguard our shared heritage for future generations,” the Prime Minister said.
