Minister Clifton Grima inaugurates upgraded Swieqi United football pitch at Pembroke Primary School

Pembroke, 7 October 2025 – The Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Clifton Grima, together with representatives from Swieqi United FC, the Malta Football Association, and Pembroke Primary School, inaugurated the club’s newly resurfaced synthetic football pitch.
The project forms part of an €8 million national programme launched in 2021 to replace and upgrade artificial pitches across Malta and Gozo. Minister Grima said this investment reflects the government’s commitment to strengthen sports facilities and encourage participation in safe, modern environments.
He emphasized that sports should remain accessible to everyone and that continuous collaboration with the MFA ensures the best possible standards for athletes and local communities alike.
