The Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector held the 14th edition of the National Volunteer Award, recognising individuals and organisations whose work continues to strengthen communities across Malta and Gozo. A total of 44 nominations were submitted, with six awards presented during the ceremony.
Winners 2025:
• Volunteer of the Year: Mario Darmanin (Malta Frame Football)
• Young Volunteer Award: Emma Cauchi (Badel Powell Scouts Malta)
• Voluntary Organisation Award: S.T.A.N.D. – Striving Towards Ability Not Disability
• Victor Calvagna Children Volunteer Award: Jan Weening Attard (The Malta Rabbit Club)
• Special Award for Voluntary Service: Janatha Stubbs
• Project of the Year: "Safe Home" by St John Rescue Corps
Minister Julia Farrugia praised the dedication of volunteers who give their time and energy to serve others, describing volunteering as a pillar of a just and united society.
Chairperson Gertrude Buttigieg emphasised the invaluable contribution of volunteers, who offer the most precious gift: their time.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting voluntary organisations and strengthening community resilience.
