Extension of Wied Inċita Family Park announced
Minister Miriam Dalli announces extension of Wied Inċita Family Park
The Ministry for the Environment, through Ambjent Malta, has obtained the required permits to extend the Wied Inċita family park by more than 7,000 square metres.
Less than a year ago, 20,000 square metres of land in Wied Inċita were returned to the public following an agreement between the ministry and the company responsible for arterial road landscaping. This next phase will make even more of the area accessible to families and visitors.
Minister Miriam Dalli said the second phase of the Wied Inċita project will enhance public access to green spaces and further enrich Malta’s natural environment. “Our valleys are natural treasures that deserve protection and sustainable use,” she noted.
The park’s extension will feature new green areas, restored rubble walls, and safety fencing. Ambjent Malta will also plant a variety of trees and shrubs—including lavender, rosemary, hibiscus, and citrus trees—to promote biodiversity and attract birds and insects.
Additional features such as picnic benches, shade structures, public facilities, and a water feature will make the park more welcoming for families.
Ambjent Malta’s Director General, Herman Galea, said that every effort is being made to preserve the valley’s natural character while ensuring safety for visitors, describing the project as a “green lung” for the community.
Wied Inċita is located on the outskirts of Attard and borders Ħaż-Żebbuġ.
