The event was organised by the Bangladesh Malta Business Association (BMBA) and the Bangladesh Expatriate Welfare Association (BEWAM), with the support and collaboration of the Human Rights Directorate in its intercultural area.
The programme featured traditional Bangladeshi music and dance performances, offering visitors an opportunity to experience elements of Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage. Members of different communities in Malta attended the event and joined Bangladeshi participants in enjoying the performances.
Bangladeshi food and refreshments were also an important part of the evening. Visitors had the opportunity to sample traditional Bangladeshi masala tea, refreshing drinks and a selection of popular street foods. The Bangladesh section formed part of the wider international food festival, where food stalls representing different countries and cultures offered visitors a diverse range of culinary experiences.
The organisers said the initiative aimed to promote cultural exchange and strengthen understanding and social connections between Malta’s diverse communities. The event also provided an opportunity for the Bangladeshi community to showcase its cultural traditions to a wider international audience.
BMBA and BEWAM expressed their appreciation to the Human Rights Directorate for supporting the initiative and for providing a platform that brings different communities together.
The organisers highlighted the importance of intercultural events in promoting mutual respect, dialogue and community participation. They said that initiatives such as Bangladesh Night can contribute to Malta’s multicultural environment by creating opportunities for communities to share their traditions and learn from one another.
Bangladesh Night concluded as a vibrant celebration of Bangladeshi heritage within Malta’s wider international food and cultural programme, highlighting the contribution of cultural diversity to community life in Malta.
