Byron Camilleri, Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, travelled to Tripoli early on Saturday morning to attend a remembrance ceremony held in honour of Muhammad Ali Ahmad Al-Haddad, who died tragically in recent days along with others who were on board the same flight.
The visit was described as a gesture of respect reflecting the strong relationship between Malta and Libya, which has continued to strengthen in recent years.
Minister Camilleri conveyed condolences on behalf of Malta to Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, the leadership of the Libyan Ministry of Defence, the Libyan Army, and the Libyan people.
He was accompanied by Malta’s Ambassador to Libya, the Commander of the Armed Forces of Malta, and the representative of the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment in Libya.
