Conference held with the theme ‘Active Ageing in Action – From Policy to Practice Through Intersectoral Collaboration Minister Jo Etienne Abela and Parliamentary Secretary Malcolm Paul Agius Galea addressing the 'Active Ageing in Action' conference.

A conference was held to discuss the vision for the future of active ageing, also as part of Vision Malta 2050. The conference was attended by the Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela, the Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing, Malcolm Paul Agius Galea, and Permanent Secretary Renzo DeGabriele.

During the conference, it was highlighted that the vision for the future of active ageing looks towards the development of our society and strengthening communities to become spaces of inclusion and participation for everyone. It was also stated that intersectoral collaboration remains the foundation for realizing this vision.

Minister Jo Etienne Abela said, "Through this conference, we are looking not only to continue providing better services but also at how to build a system that gives full value to every person at every stage of their life. The Government is committed to building a policy framework based on evidence, data, and continuous dialogue with those directly affected. This helps us design policies that are not just reactive to today's events, but are forward-looking, with a clear vision and measurable, achievable goals."

Parliamentary Secretary Malcolm Paul Agius Galea stated, "In the field of active ageing, we need to continue evaluating methods we can use to improve upon what we are doing, and plan for what will be required in the future by our elderly population. The way we all care for and cherish our elderly today reflects who we are as a society and also reflects the future we are preparing for our country."

Permanent Secretary Dr. Renzo DeGabriele emphasized how today's conference served to bring together all health entities along with other concerned ministries, to collaborate in implementing projects related to active ageing holistically, as well as to plan for other future actions and measures.
