Malta strengthens its role in AI and digital innovation
Malta chosen to host CALYPSO – EuroHPC AI Factory Antenna
Malta has been officially selected by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) to host CALYPSO, one of Europe’s 13 new AI Factory Antennas. This initiative marks another major step in Malta’s digital transformation and enhances its role in artificial intelligence and supercomputing within Europe.
Led by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA), CALYPSO will connect with Greece’s PHAROS AI Factory and provide Maltese startups, SMEs, researchers, and public entities access to EuroHPC AI supercomputing, algorithmic support, training, and datasets in key sectors like finance, transport, and health.
Minister Silvio Schembri said this project “positions Malta at the heart of Europe’s advanced AI and supercomputing network,” while MDIA CEO Kenneth Brincat highlighted that the €10 million initiative will strengthen Malta’s local ecosystem and innovation capacity.
