As part of the Stop the Hate initiative between the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment and the Malta Football Association, a discussion was held between the Players’ Council of Fgura United FC and former Liverpool and England player Jamie Carragher.

The Council is made up of children aged 10 to 13, who lead various social initiatives. One example is the club’s commitment to donate €5 to the Association for Abandoned Animals and Frame Football Malta for every goal scored by the Under 15, Under 17 and Under 21 teams.

During the session, the children shared their ideas with Carragher, who praised the initiative and highlighted the importance of ensuring that football remains a source of unity and respect. The children also had the opportunity to ask questions about football, discipline and life.

Minister Byron Camilleri said the initiative provided a unique experience for the children to learn directly from a former professional player about commitment, hard work and the values needed to succeed both in sport and in life.

Present for the event were MFA President Bjorn Vassallo and Vice Presidents Matthew Paris and Trustin Farrugia Cann, who emphasised the importance of positive environments and social responsibility within football clubs.
